Job Purpose
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with various departments across the business. This is a key role that combines hands-on accounting work with strategic financial oversight. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic Fintech environment and can balance both execution and advisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
1.Lead timely and accurate bookkeeping and financial data aggregation across all business units within the organization. 2.Prepare weekly cash flow reports, monitor operating balances, and alert management to liquidity risks. 3.Handle month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and management accounts. 4.Prepare and reconcile supplier and customer statements monthly. 5.Ensure statutory deductions and tax filings (PAYE, VAT, Withholding Tax, and Income Tax) are completed accurately and submitted on time via KRA platforms. 6.Generate operating budgets, track expenditures, and support financial planning processes. 7.Maintain proper documentation and archiving financial records in accordance with company policies and tax regulations. 8.Drive intercompany account reconciliations and ensure accurate reporting across subsidiaries or related entities. 9.Monitor and report on key P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow drivers, and proactively provide financial insights and remedial suggestions. 10.Collaborate with procurement to ensure alignment with budget controls and financial policies. 11.Support external audit processes, preparing required schedules and acting as the primary liaison for audit queries. 12.Assist in developing and updating internal financial policies, SOPs, and controls in collaboration with the Finance Manager.
Academic Qualifications & Experience
1.Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field. 2.Professional accounting qualifications (CPA-K, ACCA, or equivalent) is mandatory. 3.Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in Fintech, financial services, or a fast-growing tech environment. 4.Experience in tax regulations compliance on all tax heads. 5.Strong understanding of IFRS and IAS. 6.Experience with accounting software such as Zoho, Odoo, QuickBooks, Odoo or Sage. 7.Familiarity with KRA systems (I Tax, TIMS), online banking, Mobile money merchant platforms. 8.Prior experience with the big four professional firms a plus.
